ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14 THE M66 MOTORWAY (CARRIAGEWAYS) AND A56, A682, A680 & A676 TRUNK ROADS (CARRIAGEWAYS & SLIP ROADS) HASLINGDEN BYPASS
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2020 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) intends to make an Order on the M66 Motorway and A56, A682, A680 and A676 Trunk Roads, in the Boroughs of Bury, Rochdale and Rossendale, in the County of Lancashire, to enable resurfacing, barrier and stabilisation works, together with other maintenance; to be carried out in safety.
The Order will ban all traffic from the following sections of the M66 Motorway, A56, A682, A680 and A676 Trunk Roads:
i. the M66 southbound carriageway, from its start point where it leaves the A56 southbound carriageway, to the first point at which the entry slip road at J1 joins the carriageway;

ii. the M66 northbound carriageway, from the last point at which the exit slip road at J1 leaves the carriageway, to its end point where it becomes the A56;

iii. the A56 southbound carriageway, from the point at which the A56 Haslingden Bypass joins the A682 southbound carriageway, to its end point where it becomes the M66 southbound carriageway;

iv. the A56 northbound carriageway, from its start point where it leaves the M66 northbound carriageway, to the last point at which the A56 Haslingden Bypass northbound carriageway leaves the A56 northbound carriageway;

v. the A56 Haslingden Bypass southbound carriageway, from the last point at which the exit slip road to the A680 leaves the carriageway, to the first point at which it joins the A56 carriageway;

vi. the A56 Haslingden Bypass northbound carriageway, from the last point at which it leaves the A56 carriageway, to the first point at which the entry slip road from the A680/B6527 joins the carriageway;

vii. the A682 southbound carriageway, from the roundabout at New Hall Hey Road, to its end point where it becomes the A56 (its point of merge with the A56 Haslingden Bypass);

viii.the A682 northbound carriageway, from its start point (the last point at which the A56 Haslingden Bypass northbound carriageway leaves the A56), to the New Hall Hey Roundabout;
ix. the northbound entry slip road from the A676 Roundabout;

x. the southbound exit slip road to the A676 Roundabout;

xi. the A56 southbound entry slip road from the A680 Roundabout;

xii. the A56 northbound exit slip road to the A680 Roundabout. Prohibitions i-viii are expected to take place overnight between 21:00 and 05:00 (07:00 on Saturday and Sunday mornings) during a period starting on Monday 4 January 2021 and ending on Monday 15 March 2021. Prohibitions ix-xii are expected to take place overnight between 20:00 and 06:00 (07:00 on Saturday and Sunday) during a period starting on Monday 4 January 2021 and ending on Monday 15 March 2021. However, work may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights or continue until completed.

Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the M66 Motorway and A56, A682 and A676 Trunk Roads and local roads will be well signed. The prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, winter-maintenance, or traffic officer vehicles, and will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall be indicated by traffic signs. The Order comes into force on 3 January 2021 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months. For further information, contact
