SALFORD'S best and worst GP practices, as voted for by patients, have been revealed.

The GP Patient Survey 2019 asked residents for their views on their doctors' surgeries across a range of different areas.

Sorrel Bank Medical Practice was named the best in town according to patients.

In total, 96 per cent of patients rated their overall experience of the practice as being good or better.

Meanwhile, Ellenbrook Medical Centre in Worsley was ranked at the bottom by survey respondents.

Other medical surgeries scoring 93 per cent or above were Irlam Medical Practice, Orient Road, Ordsall Health Surgery, Clarendon Medical Practice, St Andrews and Cherry Medical Practice.

But only 63 per cent of patients at Ellenbrook were left satisfied.

Springfield House Medical Practice, Blackfriars, Monton Medical Practice, The Lakes Medical Practice and Limefield Road Medical Practice were other practices that achieved below the national average of 83 per cent.

Overall 69% of respondents in Salford said it was 'easy' to get through to someone at your GP practice on the phone compared to 68% nationally while 90% said their GP receptionist was 'helpful'.

Dr Tom Tasker, Chair of Salford CCG, said: “Every GP practice in the city is a member of Salford CCG and we work very closely with them to ensure everyone in Salford can benefit from high quality primary care services.

“We’re pleased that the majority of our patients rate their overall experience at a GP practice as ‘good’, and proud to be above the national average and second highest in Greater Manchester.

"All our GP practices in the city are rated ‘outstanding’ or ‘good’ by the Care Quality Commission, which is fantastic news and just reward for all their hard work.

"We also invest significantly into our primary care services to ensure that they are well resourced and fully equipped to provide the  best service possible.

“Although we’re happy with the results, we strive to give our population the highest quality of care and we know there are always areas we can work on and improve upon so that along with our GPs and patients, we can achieve even better results for 2020.”
