A SELF-storage company has announced the prospective opening of a new base in Salford.

AIM-listed Lok'nStore has confirmed it will be moving into an undisclosed location in the city.

In a trading update to the Stock Market, chief executive Andrew Jacob said: " We have added another store to our pipeline, exchanging contracts on an existing freehold property in Salford, where we will fit out the prominent roadside property to deliver a 50,000 sq. ft. store, to open in Autumn 2020."

The Farnborough-based company already has 34 locations across the UK and the Salford move is one of 15 additional sites pencilled in as part of an expansion programme.

Another recent addition is Oldbury in the West Midlands, where planning permission has also been secured. Construction is also underway at sites in Leicester and Gloucester, which will also open before the end of the year.

Mr Jacobs said: "Using our strong balance sheet and low gearing, we have the capacity and will continue to build more landmark stores in an undersupplied market."
