POLICE have launched an investigation after shots were fired at a car last night.

The Salford City News reported yesterday evening that a street in Weaste was cordoned off following the shooting.

No was injured and police are now appealing for information.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "Shortly before 8.25pm on Saturday police were called to reports that shots had been fired at a car on Weaste Lane in Salford.

"Officers attended but the offenders had fled the scene prior to police arrival.

"There are no reported injuries.

"Officers found evidence that shots had been fired on Willows Road and a cordon was put in place whilst enquiries were carried out at the scene.

"No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."

A resident told the Salford City News: “ I literally live at the end of where it's all going on and I can see all the police but I’ve been out, another police car turned up and it has taped off my next door neighbours.

“I’ve been down but they wouldnt tell him anything they started asking questions about the shop though when he said he’d been there earlier this evening, but wouldnt say why.”
