SALFORD have announced they have placed the “majority of staff” on furlough leave.

The Red Devils have become the latest Super League club to use the Government’s job retention scheme that sees 80 per cent of wages covered up to £2,500 per month.

The move was widely expected at the AJ Bell Stadium with no return to action on the field likely for the foreseeable future.

“Following the suspension of the 2020 Betfred Super League season, Salford Red Devils have placed the majority of staff on furlough leave,” a club statement read.

“This measure has been taken to ensure job security for all employees and protect the club’s future.

“Salford Red Devils will continue to keep supporters updated on the club’s activity throughout the suspended season across the website and social media channels.”
